HP Elitebook notebook PCs all feature the new HP DuraCase combining several key reliability enhancements. The entire notebook chassis is made from a magnesium alloy for extreme toughness and durability. Inspired by aircraft engineering, the display enclosure is comprised of an aluminum outer cover bounded to a magnesium alloy substructure for exceptional strength and impact protection. Anodized aluminum palm rests provide an attractive, scratch resistant working surface. Metal hinges with hardened steel pin axles are designed for frequent open and closing. A reinforced display latch firmly secures both halves of the notebook when the notebook lid is closed for added protection from shock and side impacts.
HP DuraKeys protect your keyboard with a clear coating that makes the keys up to 50X more resistant to visible wear.
The Panel Protection System includes a spill-resistant keyboard and HP DuraFinish to protect the panel from keyboard scuffs and help the notebook stand up to constant mobile use preserving its polished professional appearance.
HP Technology Improvements
Intel® Centrino® 2 with vPro™ technology offers significant gains in performance over previous generations. Since the processor is the "engine" of the notebook PC, these latest advancements from Intel give you a much-improved computing experience. This allows No Panic Computing to remotely fix most problems as well as improved security through increased automation and faster security updates.
HP 3D DriveGuard helps protect your hard drive from bumps and drops with robust shock mounted construction and a 3 axis accelerometer that senses sudden movement in any direction.
HP Fingerprint sensor uses truePrint subsurface technology. It looks underneath your fingerprint, beyond any dirt or cuts, to take a more accurate fingerprint. With its sophisticated pattern-matching capabilities, HP fingerprint sensor provides very reliable fingerprint matching. Finally for enhanced durability, the sensor is hermetically sealed beneath a protective coating.
In mobile products, screens account for a significant portion of the total system energy consumption. Mercury-free HP Illumi-Lite LED displays are thinner, lighter and more energy-efficient, providing up to 90 minutes increase in battery life when compared to standard CCFL display technology. HP’s screens deliver clearer images and eye-popping colors The high-gloss screens offer improved contrast and clarity for a more enjoyable experience. Anti-reflective technology reduces eye fatigue and also limits the sun’s reflection so it doesn’t get in the way of your viewing enjoyment. The ambient light sensor will automatically dim your panel in low ambient light conditions, lowering the power required from the battery and maximizing run time. In most average office light conditions, this can provide up to an hour of additional run time when compared to working at full panel brightness
The HP Elitebook uses DDR SDRAM memory to provide much higher bandwidth -- and therefore better system performance -- than older SDRAM technology. You get a better PC experience regardless of which applications you use.
The DVD writer and companion software let you create interactive DVD movies viewable on most DVD players or DVD-ROM drives. Edit and enhance your home videos, add music or special effects, and burn all your great content onto DVD for future enjoyment. On a single long-lasting, rewritable DVD disc you can store up to seven times more information than you can on a CD.
The USB 2.0 ports allow you to connect to digital cameras, scanners, and printers, and transfer files up to 40 times faster than with USB 1.1-standard devices (if the devices support USB 2.0). USB 2.0 is also backward-compatible and can be used with devices featuring USB 1.1.
An IEEE 1394 FireWire port allows you to quickly move digital videos from your digital camcorder to your notebook.
All our models come with integrated network interface cards. Not only do these give you a direct network connection, but they let you connect to high-speed DSL and cable modems, without having to purchase or install a separate card.
HP Fast Charge enables you to recharge your primary battery up to 90% in 90 minutes when the system is off. Recharge quickly right before boarding a plane or going into a long meeting where you may not have access to an outlet.
The HP Smart AC Adapter helps you save on equipment, reduce power consumption and simplify travel. It includes an integrated surge protector and draws minimal power when the notebook is not connected. A built-in sensor alerts the notebook when its power rating has been reached, allowing the notebook to make power adjustments when necessary.
All our HP notebook models incorporate industry-leading battery life and power-saving features keep you working longer. You can not only help prolong battery life, but help reduce energy usage when your notebook is plugged in.

HP TotalTest Process
To help ensure that HP business notebook PCs chosen by No Panic Computing continue to meet or exceed your high expectations, HP subject the HP Elitebook notebook design to the HP TotalTest process. Each platform was subjected to over 95,000 hours of rigorous testing of over 50,000 individual test steps. They were tested for compatibility with 240 industry-standard hardware and software products. For example, they were dropped, struck and shaken repeatedly to identify problems and validate improvements.
Robot actuation simulated a lifetime of keyboard use with 10 million keystrokes. Robots also tested the hinges by opening and closing the notebook 25,000 times – equivalent to 10X a day for 6 years. Liquid crystal displays were examined for brightness and other variables. Highly accelerated life testing simulated harsh environments and extreme use. ESD (Electro Static Discharge) testing evaluated resistance to air and contact shocks at voltage levels that were beyond typical industry requirements.
Furthermore HP Elitebook PCs are engineered to meet grueling military 810F standards for specific reliability and performance tests of temperature, vibration, dust, humidity and altitude. For instance, notebooks were tested at operating temperatures at over 60°C or 140°F – similar to the inside of a car parked in the summer heat. Vibration testing simulated the experience of working inside a train or an airplane. Designed to perform and built to last, HP business notebook PCs chosen by No Panic Computing let you devote more of your resources to improving your business.
